On Friday November 14th, we’ll bring you a night of storytelling at the Phoenicia Playhouse. YES, we’re doing it again. Well, we’re scheduling it AGAIN! And this time, it’s going to happen. Puh, puh, puh. We’re very excited to showcase 18 writers, telling their true stories, that must include the line “True or False?” As always, there’s a gong and a jury and an audience full of eager listeners. Please join us at this special Story Slam.
Among the standouts I read this summer were two memoirs. Gail Straub’s Home Inside the Globe: Embracing Our Human Family, is the story of Straub’s lifetime work; finding the similarities in all of us, against a backdrop of a world that likes to keep us separate and apart. And Jennifer Krebs’ Stumbling Blocks is a must-read second generation Holocaust story, written by the girl who was just as interested in what wasn’t told as what she was.
Plus one of my besties, Kitty Sheehan, started her Man-Pleasing Recipes substack. Hint: there’s not one recipe in these! It’s about how advertising and reading have shaped our thinking, and it’s the best thing since her weekly Kitty’s Corner during the early days of Covid.
See you at the Story Slam,
