His novels include The Plot Against Hip Hop, To Funk and Die in LA and the latest, The Darkest Hearts, all on Akashic Books. His award-winning nonfiction includes The Death of Rhythm & Blues, Hip Hop America, and the collection of his early music journalism, The Nelson George Mixtape, recently published by Pacific Books.

Holly-George-Warren-Woodstock-Bookfest-2020Holly George-Warren is a two-time Grammy nominee, and the award-winning author of sixteen books, including the New York Times bestseller The Road to Woodstock (with Michael Lang) and the biographies A Man Called Destruction: The Life and Music of Alex Chilton and Public Cowboy No. 1: The Life and Times of Gene Autry. George-Warren serves on the nominating committee of the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame, and teaches at the SUNY New Paltz. She lives in upstate New York with her husband, singer and writer Robert Burke Warren. Janis: Her Life and Music is her latest book.

kathy-valentine-woodstock-bookfestKathy Valentine has been a working musician and songwriter for over 40 years, since starting her first band, at age 16, in her hometown of Austin. After moving to Los Angeles, Kathy joined The Go-Go’s. Kathy wrote or co-wrote some of the band’s most renowned tunes, including the hits “Vacation” and “Head Over Heels.” She returned to Austin in 2006 as a public speaker, spokesperson, producer, and mentor. Kathy’s greatest loves are her daughter Audrey, writing, music, and travel. All I Ever Wanted: A Rock ‘n’ Roll Memoir is her first book.
