Woodstock resident Neil Gaiman (@neilhimself) internationally award-winning and best-selling author, showrunner of the hit TV series The Sandman and Good Omens and recent Jeopardy clue, will be discussing his genre-straddling body of work, including the trailblazing Sandman comic book series, the multi-award-winning children’s book Coraline and the breakout international bestseller, Norse Mythology, with editor and author Alisa Kwitney. Alisa, a former staff editor at Vertigo/DC Comics and an Eisner-nominated writer, worked with Neil on The Sandman comic book series and was book doula on Norse Mythology. Her latest book is the graphic novel G.I.L.T., about time-traveling women of a certain age.

Neil Gaiman is the New York Times bestselling and award-winning author and creator of books, graphic novels, short stories, film and television for all ages, including Norse Mythology, Neverwhere, Coraline, The Graveyard Book, The Ocean at the End of the Laneand The View from the Cheap Seats. His fiction has received Newbery, Carnegie, Hugo, Nebula, World Fantasy, and Will Eisner Awards. American Gods, based on the 2001 novel, is now a critically acclaimed, Emmy-nominated TV series, and he was the writer and showrunner for the mini-series adaptation of Good Omens, based on the book he co-authored with Sir Terry Pratchett. Gaiman was an Executive Producer and co-showrunner for Netflix’s TV adaptation of his Sandman comic book series, and the first and second volumes of the Audible Sandman full-cast audio adaptation were New York Times bestsellers, with the first volume reaching #1. He is currently developing season 2 of the Good Omens TV show and a TV adaptation of his book Anansi Boys. Neil Gaiman is also a Goodwill Ambassador for UNHCR and Professor in the Arts at Bard College.

Alisa Kwitney is the critically acclaimed author of numerous novels and graphic novels, and a former DC Comics staff editor with the Vertigo imprint. While at Vertigo, she worked with Neil Gaiman as assistant editor on The Sandman comic book series, and went on to become full editor of the spin-off titles The Dreaming and Lucifer, and to write the Eisner-nominated mini-series Destiny: A Chronicle of Deaths Foretold and the non-fiction title Sandman: The King of Dreams. More recently, Alisa worked with Neil as book doula on The Norse Book of Mythology. She currently co-hosts Endless: A Sandman Podcast. Alisa’s novels have made The New York Times New and Noteworthy in Paperback list and Barnes and Noble’s Discover Great New Writers program.
